Megabolt is the market leader in the design, testing and manufacturing of high capacity strata support products and systems for underground coal mines, hard rock mines and civil tunnelling projects.
Megabolt was incorporated in 1996 when civil engineer Warwick Hutchins and Australia’s most experienced mine manager Joe Hetherington combined to design a product and system with a simple philosophy – to make the industry safer and more productive.
From humble beginnings in West Heidelberg, where each and every cable was made to order, Megabolt now occupies multiple world class factories with over 100 staff.
Our core suite of products now are available ex-stock and can be delivered to most sites in Australia in 1-2 days.
Megabolt is acutely aware that its reputation and industry standing has been built on its ability to listen to the challenges faced by clients and work collaboratively with them to achieve successful outcomes.
Megabolt works closely with mine site geotechnical engineers, civil tunnelling designers, production personnel, consultants and contractors to design and implement products and systems to suit the mine, project or client’s specific needs based on the prevailing conditions. The dynamic nature of tunnel excavation means that product parameters can vary with changing geotechnical conditions, production requirements / restrictions, timeframes and budgets.
Megabolt has supplied clients with < 100 cables for one off bespoke projects right through to many thousands of cables over the development, production and wind down cycle of a mine site or project.
Whilst Megabolt’s reputation has been built around engineering excellence and innovation, a significant part of the overall system’s success are the ancillary services it provides such as product testing, training and the quality auditing of completed installations.
